Madden Returns: Jock Madden Returns to Wests Tigers

Jock Madden has announced his return to the Wests Tigers and will bolster Benji Marshall's halves group.

The 25-year-old playmaker, who originally debuted for the Tigers in 2021, spent the last three seasons with the Brisbane Broncos.

Madden expects to add composure, kicking acumen and organisation to a young Tigers spine.

"Benji and my manager sort of had a bit of a discussion there, but there was a big drive factor from Benji, and it's really good to be back," Madden told Fox Sports.

Marshall's appeal to Madden is rooted in their earlier time together when Marshall was still active on the field.

"He knows the game really well, and he instils a lot of confidence in you as well.

To be mentored by him and coached by him, I'm really looking forward to it and excited for it."

"When I first started here, he was still playing, and he taught me a lot and showed me a lot about the game back then, too."

Viewed by coaches as calm and reliable, Madden brings a well-regarded kicking game and strong game-management skills.

Clubs overseas, including Hull FC, showed interest but Madden decided the NRL was the right stage to continue his development.

"Overseas didn't really drive me in this part of my career at the moment, so being back here is a really good opportunity," he added.

He said he is eager to play under Marshall's guidance and to help the Tigers push up the ladder next season.
