The Wests Tigers' halfback Jock Madden and Dolphins' forward Connelly Lemuelu have both escaped penalties from the NRL's match review committee following incidents reported by referees during Friday's double-header.
On Saturday morning, the NRL confirmed that no charges were brought against either player after the matches, where the Tigers unexpectedly defeated the Warriors in Auckland, while the Dolphins fell short in their derby against the Broncos.
Madden was reported for a high tackle in the second half against the Warriors, which led Jackson Ford to drop the ball near the tryline.
During the tackle, Ford fell into it, and Madden had his arm wrapped above Ford's shoulder.
No penalty was issued at the moment, as Ford acknowledged the error; however, the Bunker later reviewed the incident and placed Madden on report.
The MRC, however, found no grounds for charging Madden, who was stepping in for the injured Jarome Luai, and following a strong performance, is anticipated to keep his position in the first-grade lineup for the next three weeks until Luai's return.
Meanwhile, during the later match, Lemuelu was penalized in the first half for a crusher tackle as the Broncos were attempting to advance from their own territory.
The tackle received a penalty at the time and was also placed on report.
Lemuelu, known for his consistent contributions to the Dolphins since their inaugural season, appeared to approach the tackle from the side rather than directly from above, yet he was still deemed to have applied pressure to the head and neck area.
