In a thrilling match at Allianz Stadium, Mabel Park State High School emerged victorious in the first-ever National Schoolgirls Cup, defeating The Hills Sports High School with a commanding score of 26-8.

This triumph adds to the Open Girls Team's remarkable year, having previously claimed the Queensland Schoolgirls Cup title by defeating Kirwan State High School 38-0 earlier in 2023.

The standout player of the match was second-rower Athena Vili, whose exceptional performance up front earned her the well-deserved Player of the Match award.

Vili's contributions included an impressive intercept try and a series of bone-rattling tackles that left the opposition reeling.

Leading the team to success is the Head of Programme - Girls Rugby Excellence, Chase Carey, who has served as their coach for the past five years.

Carey's diligent work with the squad has not only honed their skills on the field but also provided them with invaluable growth opportunities both on and off the rugby pitch.
