Mixed reports have emerged after Jarome Luai, the star Penrith Panthers and New South Wales State of Origin five-eighth, failed to attend training on Monday.
This revelation came amid rumors that Luai had requested time off from the club.
According to zerotackle.com, it was widely reported that Luai had signed a massive five-year, six-million dollar deal with the Tigers, set to commence in 2025.
Luai himself took to Instagram to suggest that a deal had not yet been finalized.
However, it appears highly likely that he will not remain a Panther beyond 2024.
Despite the speculation, the Panthers have publicly stated that they will not release Luai before the end of his contract, despite the Tigers' purported interest.
Luai's absence from training on Monday, with no clarity on his attendance for the rest of the week leading up to Christmas, has sparked further speculation that he may now be seeking a release.
