Jarome Luai's debut for the Wests Tigers didn't go as planned, with a crucial mistake he made coming back to haunt the team in their NRL loss to Newcastle.

In the 50th minute, with the Tigers leading 8-0, Luai made a poor decision by overcooking his kick, gifting the Knights a seven-tackle set that led to a try.

Commentators Dan Ginnane and Cooper Cronk both criticized Luai's kick, with Cronk predicting that it would have negative consequences for the Tigers.

The Melbourne Storm legend was proven right as the Knights scored two quick tries, ultimately securing the win.

Cronk highlighted the impact of Luai's mistake, saying: "It was all about the reaction from Kalyn Ponga after Luai's kick." The match turned in favor of the Knights after Luai's error, with Greg Marzhew scoring the decisive try in the 66th minute.

Despite making some good decisions throughout the game, Luai's wayward kick ultimately proved costly for the Tigers.
