Luai and Lomax dodge punishment; eyes on the game

In a surprising decision, the NRL's match review committee announced that neither Jarome Luai nor Zac Lomax will face suspensions for incidents during Game 2 of the 2025 State of Origin series.

According to reports from zerotackle.com, Luai was placed on report for an alleged eye gouge against Queensland's Reuben Cotter in the first half.

After stepping in as Wests Tigers halfback due to Mitchell Moses's calf injury, Luai's incident resulted in a Grade 2 contrary conduct charge.

However, under State of Origin rules, the penalty for accepting an early guilty plea would only be a fine of 13% of his match fees.

Should he choose to contest the charge at the NRL judiciary, the fine would increase to 20%.
