Nathan Cleary recently shared that his girlfriend, Mary Fowler, has switched her allegiance to support New South Wales in the State of Origin, despite being a proud Queenslander from Cairns.
Cleary, who is set to lead NSW against Queensland after missing the entire 2024 series due to injury, confirmed that Fowler will not be attending Game 1 in Brisbane.
Fowler, currently recovering from an ACL injury in England, reached out to Cleary on Sunday to congratulate him on his selection and requested a NSW jersey.
"I'm gonna have to (send her a jersey), I reckon.
She's already put in the request, so I think I'm gonna have to," Cleary remarked.
He noted that Fowler is now supporting the Blues, stating, "She reckons she is going for the Blues, so I think I have swung her."
Given that Fowler already plays for the Blues at the club level with Manchester City, her switch in allegiance may not be too surprising.
Even though she has been in Australia recently to spend time with Cleary and her family, she is expected to be overseas when the first game kicks off on May 28.
