NRLW star Jaime Chapman has overcome a back fracture to be named in the Blues team for Game 1 of the women's Origin series, despite initially doubting her participation due to the injury.

Chapman suffered the fracture while playing in the All-Stars game in February but managed to play through the pain.

She described the experience as "pretty hectic" but credited her recovery process for being ready for Origin 1.

However, Chapman's selection has created an awkward dilemma for her boyfriend, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, who plays for the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL.

The couple will now face a situation where they may have to compete against each other in rival Origin teams.

Chapman admitted to being stressed about her injury affecting her availability for Origin and the upcoming NRLW season but ultimately felt lucky that the fracture was not as serious as initially feared.

She recounted the moment she realized something was wrong after feeling extremely sore the day after the game and undergoing a scan.

The 23-year-old winger expressed her excitement to represent NSW in the State of Origin series and looks forward to the competition.

However, this will undoubtedly lead to some uncomfortable conversations with Tabuai-Fidow about potentially facing off on opposite sides during the Origin games.

Despite the potential awkwardness, Chapman remains focused on her recovery and preparation for the upcoming matches.

She acknowledged the support she received during her rehabilitation process, which allowed her to be fit for Game 1.

The situation highlights the complexities that can arise when partners in the NRL and NRLW find themselves on rival teams during major competitions.
