Parramatta coach Jason Ryles has dashed hopes for Zac Lomax's early return from injury, stating it is "dead and buried" despite recent training footage that sparked optimism among fans.
Lomax, who has been sidelined since a golden point victory against the Dragons in Round 5, suffered a minor fracture in his foot during that match.
Initially expected back by Round 11, he was not slated to play at Magic Round, but there were expectations for his return next week against the Dolphins.
Ryles commented on Lomax's progress, saying, "I think at a pinch he was pushing for next week, but I think that's dead and buried at the moment." He emphasized that while Lomax is "tracking along really well," healing a bone injury requires time.
