Darren Lockyer believes that revitalizing the London Broncos could significantly enhance rugby league's presence in the capital, potentially benefiting the sport worldwide.

According to reports from skysports.com, NRL icon Lockyer and his business partner, Grant Wechsel, visited London recently to further their bid to take over the Broncos. They have submitted a proposal to participate in the expanded Super League set for 2026.

Lockyer and Wechsel attended the Broncos' last home match of the Championship season, where they witnessed a 34-24 defeat against the Bradford Bulls in Wimbledon.

In an interview on the All Out Rugby League podcast, Lockyer shared his aspirations for maximizing the potential of a Super League team in London. "I want rugby league to be the best version it can be across the globe, and London is a big part of that," Lockyer stated. He further emphasized, "This is an opportunity to rescue the club and also help rugby league as a sport."

Lockyer concluded by highlighting the importance of improving the club's business operations off the field.
