Former Manly Sea Eagles forward Lloyd Perrett has initiated legal action against the club regarding a training incident from 2017.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Perrett asserts a training session left him in a comatose state for two days and that he has not fully recovered since then.
The event, described as career-ending, took place during the early part of the 2017 pre-season, where Perrett was required to run three consecutive two-kilometre time trials without being provided any water or fluids.
This, according to Perrett, was a directive from club personnel, and he subsequently collapsed during the third trial, leading to his hospitalization in a 'comatose state.'
Perrett reportedly experienced severe heat stroke as a result, which left him unconscious for two days. Additionally, he has faced ongoing issues including seizures, poor tolerance to heat, severe pain, fatigue, muscle degeneration, cognitive impairment, anxiety, mood swings, and complications related to his kidney, liver, and thyroid function.
Despite his efforts to make a comeback ahead of the 2018 season, he experienced heat stroke again during pre-season training and required hospitalization once more.
