Lindsay Smith Receives Lifelong Panther Offer

Lindsay Smith, the emerging star of the Penrith Panthers, is poised to receive a substantial offer that could secure his future with the team. The timing comes amid preparations for the November 1 deadline, as the Panthers face challenges in retaining multiple off-contract forwards.

Reports indicate that Luke Garner has already been granted permission to explore options for his future until November 1, which could extend into 2027. Meanwhile, the Panthers risk losing Lindsay Smith, Liam Henry, and Scott Sorensen at the end of the 2026 season. Among these players, Sorensen and Henry appear to be the most likely to depart, while Smith stands out as a candidate to remain, especially with a significant offer potentially influencing his decision.

Currently representing the Kangaroos during the Ashes in England, Smith will approach the November 1 deadline without a formal deal. However, News Corp reports that the offer being considered could make him a "Panther for life." Although the exact length of the proposed contract remains uncertain, Smith, at just 25 years old, could be looking at a deal spanning five years or more.

Smith is regarded as the future leader of the Panthers' forward pack, indicating a natural transition into the role previously held by James Fisher-Harris for several years at the club.
