In a thrilling Super League clash, Joe Ofahengaue's two second-half tries led the Leigh Leopards to their first victory at St Helens since 1982, while keeping pressure on the league's top teams.

According to reports from skysports.com, the game featured two early penalties from Gareth O'Brien before Ofahengaue's decisive double secured the win in a tightly contested match.

Harry Robertson's late try served as a mere consolation for the Saints fans, many of whom had already departed.

St Helens entered the match on a five-game winning streak, but their advancement was stalled as Leigh joined the ranks of teams that have defeated them, following victories against leading teams Hull KR and Wigan earlier this month.

The match was characterized by intense defense, creating a palpable tension within the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Video referee Jack Smith had a busy evening, confirming that both Owen Dagnall and Moses Mbye nearly scored for Saints, while an offside during the build-up to one of Ofahengaue's tries was also noted.

Leigh capitalized when Matt Whitley failed to clear the ball, allowing O'Brien to convert a difficult penalty for a 2-0 lead.

Overall, Leigh's performance not only ended a long-standing drought at St Helens but also showcased their capability against some of the league's best teams.
