Master coach Wayne Bennett is facing a season-defining decision regarding high-profile recruit Lewis Dodd's potential entrance into the No.7 jersey for South Sydney.
Dodd was unable to play in the team's round one clash due to a one-game ban, leading to Jamie Humphreys stepping in and impressing with a strong performance.
Humphreys' stellar play, including kicking for 711 meters and making 24 of his 25 tackles, has put pressure on Bennett to make a tough call in the halves.
Bennett remained coy about the decision, stating, "You'll have to read the papers on Tuesday," but acknowledged Humphreys' solid performance, saying, "I thought he was pretty good." With only half of the team on the field, Bennett believes that Humphreys will only improve with more game time under his belt.
Bennett's impending decision on whether to stick with Humphreys or bring in Dodd will be crucial for South Sydney's season moving forward.
