Leeds to use testimonial clash as Vegas dress rehearsal
Leeds coach Brad Arthur has announced plans for a "Vegas dress rehearsal" in Yorkshire next week, with Cameron Smith taking the spotlight.
However, the former Australian captain and Melbourne hooker won't be participating. Instead, the Rhinos will utilize a testimonial match for the Rhinos back rower, also named Cameron Smith, to prepare for their upcoming clash at Allegiant Stadium against Super League champions Hull KR on February 28. This event will help the team adjust to the different training routines required in Nevada.
Leeds is set to face newly promoted Bradford at Headingley on Saturday, January 24. The 27-year-old Smith will retain a significant portion of the gate receipts as is customary in British rugby.
In injury news, young player Alfie Edgell (ankle) is expected to miss the round one match against Leigh. Arthur also mentioned that there remains a slight uncertainty regarding winger Maika Siva, who did not play last year due to a knee injury.
