In a bittersweet decision, Leeds Rhinos and England forward Zoe Hornby has announced her departure from the Rugby League playing field.

The 25-year-old Newcastle native, who joined the Rhinos in 2021, is set to focus on her development role at Newcastle Falcons.

Hornby had a successful stint with the Rhinos, being part of the victorious Women's Super League team in 2022 and earning her international debut the same year.

She also represented England in the World Cup squad.

Her time at Leeds saw her play key roles in Grand Finals in 2021 and 2023, as well as appearances in the last three Challenge Cup finals, where unfortunately, Leeds fell short to St Helens.

"It is with a heavy heart that I will be bidding farewell to Leeds as I take a step back from rugby," expressed Hornby, whose tally stands at 29 tries in 45 appearances for the Rhinos.

"While there have been plenty of highs over the past three seasons, it's the camaraderie and team spirit with my fellow players that I will cherish the most; the true essence of rugby."

Fans can catch the next thrilling Women's Super League match live on Friday from 5pm on Sky Sports Action, featuring league leaders Wigan Warriors clashing against fourth-placed St Helens.

It promises to be a showdown filled with on-field heroics and sporting passion.
