Laurie Seeking New Club After Panthers Exit

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Fullback Daine Laurie is actively seeking a new team after learning that the Penrith Panthers will not extend his contract for the 2026 NRL season.

Laurie, who will be returning to the Panthers in 2024 following a three-year period with the Wests Tigers, has played 21 games over the past two seasons. However, he has primarily been utilized as a bench player or to support the outside backs, limiting his playtime.

While he has largely featured in the NSW Cup, Laurie possesses the talent to be a frequent starter in the NRL and has displayed flashes of his capabilities when given the chance. Notably, he scored two tries in the Panthers' first match of the season against the Cronulla Sharks in Las Vegas.

Now that he has no contract for the upcoming season, Laurie has been officially informed by the Panthers that he will not be receiving a contract extension. This situation is expected to generate significant interest for him, both within the NRL and in international leagues.

"He's been told by the club that there won't be a contract for him beyond this year," The Herald's Michael Chammas reported on 100% Footy.
