Laurie Daley, former coach of the NSW Blues in the State of Origin, has expressed a change in his stance regarding a potential return to the coaching job.
Previously stating that he had no interest in the top position, Daley has now indicated that he would be open to helping out if required.
In an interview on the Big Sports Breakfast, Daley mentioned that he would be willing to take on various roles, including coach, mentor, or a leadership position.
He emphasized his willingness to assist in any capacity and his desire to be a part of helping NSW succeed.
The NSWRL Chairman, Paul Conlon, expressed surprise at Daley's potential interest in the job.
Despite Daley's success in breaking the Blues' Origin drought in 2014, his overall record as head coach was not as impressive, with only one series win out of five.
The search for a new coach began after Brad Fittler stepped down last week, despite being offered a one-year extension.
Daley's change of heart could potentially put him in the running for the vacant position.
However, it remains to be seen if the NSWRL board will consider him as a serious candidate.
