NRL 2024: Latrell Mitchell Breathes Sigh of Relief as Surgeons Rule Out Season-Ending Surgery on Injured Foot

The Rabbitohs have received some good news with their star fullback, Latrell Mitchell, escaping season-ending foot surgery after meeting with his surgeon.

It's a massive weight off Souths' shoulders, as initial concerns over Mitchell missing the remainder of the NRL season are put to rest.

The injury occurred just 20 minutes into their victory over the Eels last Thursday, where Mitchell once again shone with a try and a couple of assists in the rainy conditions.

"Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell has been given the green light by his surgeon, who has decided that his left mid-foot injury can be managed conservatively without the need for surgery," stated the club.

Mitchell will undergo another scan and review in two weeks to monitor the progress of his injury.

The Rabbitohs will provide updates when necessary.

Mitchell's exceptional form has been instrumental in Souths' climb up the ladder, now sitting just two points outside the top eight.

Their disastrous start to the season, with only one win in their first 10 matches, led to the departure of coach Jason Demetriou.

Overall, it's a positive development for the Rabbitohs as they look to push for a playoff spot and continue their resurgence in the league.
