Stunning $1.4m Latrell Contract Reveal Sparks 'Dangerous' Debate
Latrell Mitchell, a standout player for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, is rumored to be in contention for one of the largest contracts in NRL history, potentially reaching $1.4 million annually.
However, this staggering figure has ignited discussions regarding whether the Australian and NSW Blues star is indeed a worthy investment, particularly due to his recurring injury issues and his struggles to participate in every match throughout the season.
While he is celebrated as one of the most formidable and talented players in the NRL when healthy, Mitchell's prolonged absences from the game in recent years have led to skepticism about whether the Rabbitohs should offer him such a lucrative contract.
Adding to the speculation, Code Sports reporter Brent Read has indicated that the Rabbitohs may attempt to finalize a new contract for Mitchell before he becomes a free agent on November 1.
"I think Souths are going to try and get a deal done. They haven't started the process yet but I'd imagine later in the year they'll try to knock a deal over," Read mentioned during his appearance on NRL 360.
