'Absolute rubbish': Souths' Latrell excuse slammed

The NRL is gearing up to make a call on Latrell Mitchell on Thursday after the dazzling fullback faced the music with the South Sydney board.

This week, the 27-year-old met with Rabbitohs bigwigs to reaffirm his allegiance to the club following a controversial incident involving a suspicious white substance at a women's coaching clinic in Dubbo.

Mitchell found himself on the receiving end of a breach notice from the NRL, with rumors swirling that he could cop a one-game suspension and a hefty $20,000 fine.

The Rabbitohs are also expected to dish out their own monetary penalty.

While the club could potentially slap Mitchell with a $250,000 fine as per his contract terms, it seems unlikely that they will go that far.

Speaking on Fox League's NRL 360, reporter James Hooper didn't hold back, criticizing South Sydney for not addressing the issue publicly before the NRL makes its decision within the next day.
