Latrell Mitchell will not be gracing the field for the rest of the 2024 season as he gears up to face the music with the NRL over his breach notice.
The injured star's fate was sealed as South Sydney's interim coach Ben Hornby confirmed the news, describing Mitchell as "OK" amid the turmoil.
As the legendary Wayne Bennett stood behind Mitchell, Hornby revealed that the fullback was steering clear of the club while dealing with the aftermath of a leaked photo showing him in a questionable situation at a Dubbo hotel.
Bennett, who will be back at the helm in 2025, expressed his belief in Mitchell's character but left the resolution of the issue in the hands of South Sydney.
"He's in good hands at South Sydney," Bennett reassured on Friday.
"He's a top bloke, but it's up to the Rabbitohs to set things straight.
He'll bounce back from this setback and look ahead to brighter days."
