In a heart-stopping collision during Souths' electrifying win last Friday, the Rabbitohs' star fullback, Latrell Mitchell, is now in the firing line for a hefty fine of up to $2500.
Mitchell's bone-crunching bump on Josh Addo-Carr left the Bulldogs winger benched with a nasty concussion, sending shockwaves through the NRL world.
As Mitchell sprinted to make a crucial cover tackle in the dying moments of the first half, his hip connected with Addo-Carr, sending the Canterbury flyer crashing to the turf.
The sight of Addo-Carr lying motionless spurred a ruckus among Bulldogs players, who were understandably riled up.
Referee Gerard Sutton tried to douse the flames, suggesting the clash was accidental, but the match review committee saw it differently, slapping Mitchell with a grade-one dangerous contact charge.
Thankfully for Mitchell, he won't miss any games but faces a fine of $1800 if he pleads guilty early.
On the flip side, the Bulldogs will sorely miss Addo-Carr in their upcoming showdown against the Sydney Roosters, adding insult to injury as the winger has only seen a measly 80 minutes of action this season due to a previous shoulder setback, much to the frustration of coach Cameron Ciraldo.
