Hull KR CEO Paul Lakin expressed strong confidence in retaining head coach Willie Peters, despite significant interest from the NRL, in an interview with Sky Sports.

Peters, who took over the coaching role in 2023, has led Hull KR to impressive achievements, including a Super League Grand Final appearance in 2024, where they narrowly lost to the Wigan Warriors. Additionally, the club secured the Challenge Cup and the League Leaders' Shield this season.

The victory in the Challenge Cup marked Hull KR's first trophy in 40 years, and the team is now pursuing a historic treble as the Super League season progresses into the play-offs.

During his appearance on Sky Sports' The Bench podcast, Lakin appeared unfazed by the rumors surrounding Peters' future. He stated, "Willie's a fantastic communicator, me and him are very close." Lakin indicated the importance of open dialogue, saying, "We talk God knows how many times a day, and we've said to each other, if there is genuine interest, talk to me, tell me. Just open and honest conversations [is how the club will keep hold of Peters]."
