After showing interest in Sydney Roosters' playmaker Sandon Smith, the Newcastle Knights are now looking at two players from the Brisbane Broncos to fill the dummy-half role.
With Phoenix Crossland expected to shift to lock, sources informed Newcastle Knights Juniors and Zero Tackle that the Knights are eyeing Broncos duo Billy Walters and Cory Paix.
While Walters has a year left on his contract and was previously linked to the North Queensland Cowboys, Paix, who is off-contract, appears to be a more viable option for the Knights as they plan for next season.
Currently earning around $350,000 with the Broncos, Paix has been on the edge of being released due to the club's salary cap issues. His contract situation has also garnered interest from teams like the Gold Coast Titans, North Queensland Cowboys, and various clubs in the Super League.
