Knights v Titans: Vette-Welsh returns; Brown eyes more magic
The Newcastle Knights are set to face the Gold Coast Titans in the first NRLW semi-final, where a spot in the preliminary final is at stake.
After winning back-to-back matches, the Knights have climbed to third place on the ladder, securing a home game for the first week of the finals.
Throughout the season, halfback Jesse Southwell has been instrumental in leading the Knights' offense, notably guiding them past a determined Dragons team last weekend.
The Titans also showcased their resilience last week, with halfback Lauren Brown delivering a crucial performance. Brown successfully kicked a golden-point field goal that propelled her team past the Raiders, securing a place in the finals.
Brown has a history of performing in high-pressure situations at McDonald Jones Stadium, having notably kicked the game-winning field goal during Game Two of the 2024 State of Origin series.
In their previous encounter, Southwell proved pivotal in the Knights' victory over the Titans in Round 10. She scored the decisive try in the 69th minute, breaking a 22-22 tie and establishing her impact in close matchups.
