The Newcastle Knights faced a significant setback in their finals aspirations following the injuries of Dylan Lucas and Dylan Brown during Friday night's match against the Roosters.
Lucas appeared "almost inconsolable" after sustaining a dislocated and likely fractured left ankle, while Brown was forced to leave the field due to a knee injury.
The club remains optimistic that Brown has not torn his ACL; however, he is scheduled for scans on Saturday to assess the severity of his injury.
This injury concerns the same knee that Brown previously hurt during Newcastle's Round 2 victory over the Sea Eagles, which was later diagnosed as a grade 2 MCL strain.
Lucas, on the other hand, had been making waves in his breakout 2026 season, showcasing himself as one of the league's promising edge forwards and earning a State of Origin debut due to his impressive performances.
The NSW Blues representative was poised to be an essential offensive asset for Newcastle in the finals, but now the Knights will have to proceed without Lucas for the remainder of the season.
