Knights extend their knights for a longer battle

The Newcastle Knights have reportedly proposed contract extensions for veteran players Dane Gagai and Tyson Frizell to secure their services through the 2026 NRL season.

This move is part of a broader team rebuilding strategy that has seen the club offload players like Daniel Saifiti and Jayden Brailey while adding new talent, notably New Zealand international Dylan Brown, expected to join in the next season.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the proposed one-year extensions aim to retain Gagai and Frizell, both of whom are integral to the team's roster.

Frizell, a seasoned forward with over 260 NRL appearances and a notable history as a 14-time Australian and 16-time NSW Blues representative, has proven to be an essential part of the Knights' forward pack since joining from the St George Illawarra Dragons in 2021.

His experience has attracted attention from rival teams, recognizing his potential to develop and mentor the younger talents emerging within the club.
