The Newcastle Knights may have turned down Tyson Frizell's option earlier this season, but the veteran back-rower will continue with the team for at least one more year after signing a new extension.
Frizell, a seasoned player with 14 Australian caps and 16 appearances for the NSW Blues, has been a key part of the Knights' forward pack since joining from the St. George Illawarra Dragons in 2021. His contributions to the club have earned him this new deal.
Following the re-signing of Dane Gagai, Frizell has secured a one-year extension for the 2026 NRL season, which may be his final year in the league as he considers retirement.
With over 260 NRL matches under his belt, Frizell offers not only experience and skill but also the ability to mentor the younger talent emerging within the club.
"We are delighted Tyson is staying on for another year," said Peter O'Sullivan, Head of Recruitment for the Newcastle Knights. "His experience, energy, and work ethic will be vital for the emerging edge players and several new middles we have joining the club."
