The Newcastle Knights have proudly unveiled their 2024 Indigenous Jersey, designed by the talented artist Saretta Fielding.
The artwork, titled 'Powaikaliko Piriraal Malang' meaning 'Grow Strong Together', tells the story of the Knights family and emphasizes the importance of connecting with communities and countries, with a special nod to the Awabakal, Worimi, and Wonnarua peoples.
This striking red jersey, made by the Knights' official apparel partner Classic Sportswear, showcases gathering circles symbolizing community connection and partnership.
It also pays homage to the thirteen countries within the Knights traditional catchment area, stretching from the Hawkesbury River down south to the northern coast and into the northwest of New South Wales.
In true sporting fashion, the Knights are proud to wear this jersey that celebrates unity and strength through connections with the indigenous peoples of the region.
It's a powerful symbol of respect and acknowledgment for the rich cultural history that underpins the Knights' legacy.
