Jack Cogger and Tyson Gamble, the Newcastle Knights' halves duo, have been informed they can leave the club despite being under contract for another year. The Knights have undergone a significant roster overhaul in the last 18 months, led by recruitment expert Peter O'Sullivan, acquiring several new players while releasing many from the squad.

Players such as Adam Elliott, Daniel Saifiti, Jack Hetherington, Jackson Hastings, and Jayden Brailey are among those who have already departed or are slated to leave and won't be offered new contracts.

Cogger and Gamble are the latest players to be given the option to leave the Knights at the end of the 2025 NRL season if they can secure new contracts with other clubs, as reported by The Newcastle Herald.

Currently, both players are contracted until the end of 2026. If they fail to find alternative deals, they will remain part of the Knights' Top 30 roster.

Additionally, Cogger has been mentioned in potential transfer discussions for a return to the Penrith Panthers, which is part of a larger three-way, four-club player swap. This deal could also include Brad Schneider moving to The Dolphins and Sean O'Sullivan transferring to the Canterbury Bulldogs, according to News Corp.
