In 2025, the New Zealand Kiwis emerged as a formidable rugby league team and are now focusing on the upcoming Rugby League World Cup in 2026.

Following their triumph in the Pacific Championships, where they achieved a decisive 36-14 victory over Samoa, the Kiwis are filled with confidence.

In the wake of this success, hooker Phoenix Crossland shared a bold declaration aimed at their main rivals, Australia, expressing their desire to challenge the formidable squad.

"I'm biased because I play for them, but we've got the best team in the world," he told NRL.com.

"We've got what it takes to win the World Cup."

The Kiwis' impressive performance has positioned them in a tie for favorites alongside the Kangaroos, thanks to a powerful and deep forward pack led by standout players such as Joe Tapine, James Fisher-Harris, and Moses Leota.

Their formidable impact was supported by a dynamic interchange unit, which included Erin Clark, Xavier Willison, and Naufahu Whyte, ensuring relentless intensity throughout their games.
