'Sea of black': Kiwis urge fans to combat Tongan, Samoan support

Kiwis players are calling on New Zealand fans to "paint Auckland black" as they embark on a mission for redemption in the Pacific Championships.

Last year, a depleted Kiwis squad suffered a defeat against Tonga, while New Zealand supporters were significantly outnumbered by the vibrant Red Sea that filled Go Media Stadium.

This dynamic has become a notable trend in international rugby, with strong support from substantial Tongan and Samoan communities.

As they gear up to face both teams during the Pacific Championships, Kiwi stars are determined to "turn the tide."

New Zealand's first match is against Samoa on October 19 at Go Media Stadium, followed by a clash with Tonga on November 2 at Eden Park.
