Kiwi Kerri primed for away game on home soil
Broncos star Kerri Johnson is eagerly awaiting her upcoming match in Waikato, marking a significant homecoming for her.
The 22-year-old has transitioned from playing for the Melbourne Rebels in the Australian Super Rugby to returning home, where she represented the Auckland Blues for the 2024 and 2025 Super Rugby Aupiki seasons before joining the Broncos.
Originating from Kaikohe in New Zealand's North Island, Johnson has made an impressive mark in her debut rugby league season, scoring seven tries in nine matches, despite having no prior rugby league experience.
Her debut was particularly noteworthy, as she scored a try in Round 1 and ran an impressive 176 meters. Recently, she found the back of the net once again against the Bulldogs, dedicating the score to her best friend Shanti Solomon-Peeni's late grandmother.
As Johnson approaches the finals in her first rugby league season, she expresses that being part of such a talented team motivates her to continually enhance her skills and strive for improvement each week.
