Kieran Foran has bared his soul on the toughest battle of his life, when he turned his back on a massive payday in Rugby League.
The Gold Coast halfback has revealed the "demons" that once drove him away from the game and a lucrative contract.
Now approaching the 300-game mark, the 34-year-old veteran has had a storied career, with stints at Manly, Parramatta, the Warriors, Bulldogs, and now the Titans.
Along the way, he has donned the black jersey of New Zealand and showcased his talents in the NRL All Stars team, even capturing a title with the Sea Eagles in 2011.
But it was his move from Manly to the Eels in 2015, after signing a hefty $4.8 million deal, that triggered a downward spiral.
A serious shoulder injury in 2016, coupled with personal struggles, pushed him to the brink, questioning his desire to not only play Rugby League but to even go on living.
In a conversation with Sporting News' Ebbs & Flows podcast, set to debut on July 7, Foran delves into the challenges he faced both on and off the field during that difficult period.
