Kennedy taking a hit, out for next match

Kennedy to accept match review charge

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

In a classic case of rugby league drama, full back Will Kennedy from the Sharks has taken one for the team by accepting a match review charge.

This means he'll be sidelined for the next showdown against the North Queensland Cowboys in round 21.

Kennedy was handed a grade two Contrary Conduct charge after an unfortunate collision with ref Adam Gee during a Sharks line break in their dominant 58-6 victory over the Tigers.

By pleading guilty early, Kennedy only has to sit out for one game.

The Sharks and Kennedy weighed up their options and decided it was best to cop the suspension rather than risk a two-game ban by contesting the charge at a judiciary hearing.

In more judiciary news, Sharks prop Tom Hazelton also found himself in hot water for a crusher tackle on the Tigers' Fonua Pole.

Hazelton decided to take the prudent route by accepting the guilty plea and avoiding further consequences.

It's a tough break for Kennedy and Hazelton, but the show must go on in the unpredictable world of rugby league.

The Sharks will regroup and rally their forces for the next battle, knowing that every player counts in the quest for victory.
