Premiership-winning legend Luke Keary has recently called time on his remarkable rugby league career, officially retiring from the sport.
However, Keary is not planning on taking a break in his post-playing life; instead, he has aspirations of returning to the NRL in a coaching capacity.
Considered a future NRL coach, the Newcastle Knights recently approached Keary to explore his interest in a coaching position at their club.
Though initially contemplating the offer, the Daily Telegraph reports that Keary has decided to turn down the opportunity with the Knights.
His loyalty to the Roosters played a significant role in his decision to decline the Knights deal, and he is currently in discussions with former coach Trent Robinson regarding a possible role in Bondi.
Keary has maintained a strong relationship with Robinson since leaving the Roosters in 2024, and should he choose to rejoin, he would also be working alongside former teammate Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, who has recently been appointed as a mentor at the Roosters for 2026.
At this time, no formal contract has been presented to Keary.
