Katoa Aims for Lasting Legacy with Dolphins

Isaiya Katoa is firmly committed to his current team and isn't considering any other options.

The young halfback for the Dolphins, at just 22, is gearing up for another competitive season and has expressed his ambition to remain at the club long-term.

Katoa's desire to be a Dolphin for life stems from his goal of establishing a legacy, influenced by Reece Walsh's championship success with the Broncos and the inspiring journeys of legends like Andrew and Matty Johns, along with Phil Gould's commendation of him.

For him, maintaining consistency and striving for improvement are critical, as he is eager to experience finals football.

"I definitely believe we can play finals this year," Katoa shared with NewsCorp.

"There's a number of team and personal goals I've got and I'm hungry to play finals."

Reflecting on his past performances, he noted, "I had games where I played well, games where I was fairly decent, and then I had games where, to my standard, I was fairly poor."

"Consistency is a big thing for me this year. I want to stay at around eight to nine out of ten for most of the year."

The primary reason Katoa has little interest in exploring rugby union or opportunities in Papua New Guinea is rooted in a single concept: loyalty.
