The Kangaroos face another significant setback as they prepare for the 2025 Ashes Series against England, highlighted by a leading contender for the 2025 Dally M Medal opting out of selection.
Adding to previous losses, including Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow due to injury, Payne Haas's commitment to Samoa, and Liam Martin stepping back for the birth of his child, Sydney Roosters captain James Tedesco is the latest player to withdraw. As reported by News Corp, he has informed the ARL commission of his unavailability due to attending his brother's wedding.
With the squad announcement scheduled for Monday, Tedesco's absence could pave the way for either Dylan Edwards or Reece Walsh to step into the fullback position against England.
"Kevvie. Reece Walsh has to be the first man on the plane," Matthew Johns remarked on SEN Radio recently. "Forget about football matters, the game over there is struggling. They (England) desperately need this tour. And I will tell you what else they desperately need is high-profile players like Reece Walsh being there."
