Kalyn Ponga has made a surprising move by waving off a chance to play for the Kangaroos, opting instead to put all his focus on the Knights' 2025 campaign.
The star fullback turned down the opportunity to represent Australia in end-of-year Tests in order to prioritize his preparation for the upcoming NRL season.
This decision follows Ponga's previous choice to sit out State of Origin last season due to a concussion.
With no injury concerns this time around, Ponga is determined to kick off the Knights' pre-season training in November and aim for a shot at the NRL grand final, building on their recent finals appearances.
"I'm hungry for that premiership win with the Knights, nothing less will do," Ponga declared.
"Since I joined the club back in 2018, my ultimate goal has been to lift that trophy.
I want to leave a legacy that reflects positively on my career, showing that I gave my all for the team and the community.
Right now, I feel like I still have a lot to prove, and I'm ready to put in the work every day to achieve those goals."
Ponga's dedication to his club over country showcases his commitment to reaching the top level in the rugby league arena, setting his sights on glory with the Knights.
