Illawarra, Group 7 Enjoy Junior Registration Boom
Illawarra and South Coast Group 7 have reported significant increases in junior registrations for the 2025 season.
The St George District has set a new record, which has been echoed by South Coast Group 7 surpassing its highest tally ever, while Illawarra has achieved its best numbers since 2019.
In South Coast Group 7, a total of 4,357 juniors have registered, with over 35 percent being young females.
This region, known for its rich rugby league tradition, has produced numerous stars for the Dragons, including current players Dylan Egan, Hamish Stewart, and Ella Koster, as well as club legends like Matt Cooper, Shaun Timmins, and Rod Wishart.
Illawarra has seen 3,247 juniors register, with nearly 38 percent identifying as female.
Similar to South Coast Group 7, Illawarra has developed notable talents such as Damien Cook, Kasey Reh, and the Couchman twins alongside revered names like Dean Young, Ben Hornby, and Sam Bremner.
