Joel Caine warns Tigers: Will risky signings pay off?

Joel Caine warns Wests Tigers over 'risky' Jarome Luai and Addin Fonua-Blake call

Former Wests Tigers player Joel Caine has voiced his opinion about the potential signing of Addin Fonua-Blake, warning the club that it could be a risky move.

Caine believes that the Tigers should instead pursue Jarome Luai, as he sees him as a better long-term investment for the team.

Fonua-Blake, who has asked for a release from his contract with the Warriors, is currently favored by both the Tigers and Bulldogs for his signature.

Phil Gould, a key figure in the Bulldogs' recruitment, has even met with Fonua-Blake to discuss the possibility.

However, the Warriors are also exploring other options, including a potential trade deal for immediate replacements.

It has been reported that if Fonua-Blake were to join the Bulldogs, the Warriors would be interested in securing Viliame Kikau.

Additionally, they might be open to a trade involving Isaiah Papali'i or Stefano Utoikamanu if the Tigers show interest.

Caine expresses skepticism about the potential deal, particularly due to the high price tag of $1.2 million, which is comparable to what the Broncos are paying Payne Haas.

He believes that Fonua-Blake's consistency does not match that of Haas, making it a risky move for the Tigers.

Caine emphasizes that the Tigers cannot afford to make any further mistakes and therefore advises against the signing of Fonua-Blake, no matter how talented he may be.
