'He's a player who's got ice in his veins': Joe Chan determined to keep his winning streak alive after inking a fresh deal to stick with the Storm

The Storm are gearing up to unleash a potential game-changer in the finals, as one player, who has yet to taste defeat, secures a long-term contract extension to continue his incredible NRL journey.

According to a report from news.com.au, Melbourne has secured their lucky charm in Joe Chan, who has signed on until the end of the 2028 season, providing a major boost for the club just before the finals kick off.

At just 22 years old, Chan made his way to the Storm at the end of the 2022 season and has since racked up an impressive 11 wins in the NRL, including a standout debut performance in the final round last year when the team gave some of their key players a rest, giving young talents like Jack Howarth and Sua Fa'alogo a chance to shine against the Broncos.

Although he has been playing behind Eli Katoa and Shawn Blore this season, Chan has still managed to make his mark with 10 games under his belt, showcasing the skills that earned him recognition after a successful stint with Catalans in the Super League.

The decision to extend his contract aligns with his roommate Alec Macdonald also choosing to stay with the Storm, forming a unique father-son duo at the club since Chan's father Alex spent time playing for Melbourne as well.

"It's a tremendous opportunity that the club has presented me with, and signing a new contract shows that they believe in me and recognize the hard work I've put in," Chan expressed.

"I owe a lot to my family for their unwavering support and sacrifices along the way, and they are thrilled to see me get this opportunity to continue my journey with the Storm."
