The Jillaroos have underscored their superiority in women's rugby league by successfully defending their Pacific Cup title with a decisive 40-8 victory against New Zealand.

This dominant performance comes just a year before the World Cup is set to be held on home soil, following an impressive season that kicked off with a staggering 90-4 win over England in Las Vegas.

While their previous meeting in Auckland was a tightly contested 10-4 match, the stakes were notably different as the two sides faced off at Western Sydney Stadium for the trophy.

Australia took an early lead, dominating 24-0 within the first 31 minutes. Although the Kiwi Ferns managed to score two tries during the second half, the Jillaroos controlled the game throughout and never appeared vulnerable.

The match concluded with little fanfare from the Jillaroos, a testament to their clear expectations and standards of performance.

The Jillaroos displayed a versatile attacking strategy, beginning with Olivia Kernick crossing under the posts in just the third minute.

In her first international series, Jesse Southwell shone at halfback, executing a skillful kick that allowed Julia Robinson to score a spectacular try.

Quincy Dodd played a crucial role as well, connecting with Keilee Joseph who surged through a gap for a try near the posts, while Ellie Johnston added another try with a powerful run.
