World stage beckons as Jillaroos go prime time
The Jillaroos players are confident that scheduling their World Cup matches during prime time will not only boost the visibility of their dominant Australian team but also motivate more girls to engage with the sport.
This decision signifies a recognition of the Jillaroos as one of the top teams across all sports, and of the NRLW as the leading female contact sports league globally.
The three-time World Cup champions will begin their RLWC26 journey against Fetu Samoa at CommBank Stadium on Friday, October 16.
This match is part of a double-header event, with Toa Samoa facing France at 5:45 PM AEDT, followed by the Jillaroos competing against Fetu, the fifth-ranked women's team according to the latest IRL World Rankings, at 8:05 PM AEDT.
Channel 7 will broadcast their matches during these prime time slots, allowing a larger audience to appreciate the athleticism, skill, and physicality exhibited by Jillaroos players like Isabelle Kelly, Julia Robinson, Tamika Upton, and Tiana Penitani Gray.
Robinson's incredible aerial try against Samoa gained viral attention, even being shared by Matildas star Sam Kerr on social media. Penitani Gray expressed that such remarkable moments will receive even more exposure during the World Cup.
