The Jillaroos have once again demonstrated their superiority on the international stage, successfully defending their Pacific Cup title with a commanding 40-8 victory over New Zealand.

After a close-fought 10-4 match against New Zealand in Auckland last week, this encounter at CommBank Stadium showcased a markedly different dynamic with the trophy at stake.

The Australian team quickly established dominance, leading 24-0 just 31 minutes into the game. Though the Kiwi Ferns managed to secure two tries in the second half, the Jillaroos consistently maintained control, never appearing at risk of defeat.

The clear edge showcased by Australia was evident, as there was minimal celebration from the players upon hearing the final siren.

From the outset, it was clear the Jillaroos were in command, with Olivia Kernick scoring under the posts just three minutes into the match. In her first international series, Jesse Southwell took the spotlight at halfback, executing a cross-field kick that landed perfectly for Julia Robinson, who soared to score. Quincy Dodd facilitated another try, connecting with Keilee Joseph, who found a gaping hole near the posts. Ellie Johnston also contributed, crashing over for another score.
