Clydsdale's 'full circle moment' as Jillaroos honour foundations

Cath Welch reflects on the remarkable evolution of women's rugby since she first donned a Jillaroos jersey, leading her team in an international match in Fiji back in 1993.

This year marks a significant milestone for the Jillaroos as they celebrate their 30th anniversary, originating with their first official Test match against New Zealand on July 1, 1995, at Lidcombe Oval.

Prior to that landmark match, the groundwork was laid by Welch and her fellow trailblazers, whose trip to compete against Pacific Island teams earned them recognition as the 1993 Women's Australian Foundation Team.

In honor of this 30th anniversary, the Australian Jillaroos have been engaging in learning about their history and heritage during the Pacific Championships. Welch had the honor of being a special guest at the jersey presentation prior to the match against Fetu Samoa.
