The Jets and Bulldogs battled to an intense 18-all draw in a physical NSW Cup game at Sharks Stadium on Sunday, according to sharks.com.au.

Adverse weather conditions led to numerous errors, but both teams displayed commendable spirit throughout the match. The game, moved from Belmore Sports Ground due to field conditions, was played amidst heavy rain.

The Bulldogs capitalized on a first-play mishap by the Jets, securing advantageous field position right from the start. However, Newtown's defense stood firm, preventing the Bulldogs from scoring initially.

With strong attacking play, aided by a penalty, Newtown advanced upfield. Hooker Jayden Berrell executed a grubber kick to centre Michael Gabreal, who scored the first try in the eighth minute. Unfortunately, halfback Niwhai Puru was unsuccessful with the conversion.

In the 14th minute, Bulldogs second-rower Logan Spinks crossed the line for a try, which halfback Toby Sexton successfully converted, putting Canterbury ahead 6-4.

As the first half progressed, both teams struggled to maintain possession, resulting in a back-and-forth contest. Puru's grubber kick earned Newtown a repeat set in a prime scoring position, but the Bulldogs were the next to score in the 29th minute.

Following a penalty, Canterbury marched downfield, and prop Kurtis Morrin broke through the Jets' defense to score. Sexton added the conversion, extending their lead to eight points in the challenging conditions.
