Eighteen months after nearly being selected to represent the NSW Blues, centre Jesse Ramien is on the verge of leaving the Cronulla Sharks, with interest from at least six rival clubs.
Following consecutive exits in the preliminary finals, the Sharks are faced with challenging decisions as they aim to stay competitive while striving for greater success in 2024 and 2025.
Just a day after learning that star winger Ronaldo Mulitalo will miss the start of next season due to an ACL injury, coach Craig Fitzgibbon could make further changes to his back-line.
Despite being under contract for an additional year at a salary of approximately $500,000 per season, News Corp reports that Ramien has been granted permission to engage with competing teams and has already piqued the interest of several clubs.
The Gold Coast Titans are among these teams, having recently appointed Sharks assistant coach Josh Hannay as their new head coach for the 2026 NRL season.
A four-time Indigenous All-Stars representative and a member of the Prime Minister's XIII side in 2018, the 28-year-old Ramien has played 170 NRL matches since his debut in 2017-143 with the Sharks and 17 with the Newcastle Knights.
"The old cliché is the dream is to play one NRL game," Ramien said earlier this year after reaching the 150-game milestone.
