James Graham has shared insights into a challenging period in his life, advocating for more openness regarding mental health issues.
Last year, he spent time in a mental health rehabilitation facility, discussing a deeply personal struggle that caused his unexpected absence from media during the 2025 NRL season.
The former NRL and Super League player, now a media figure, noted that the previous year had been "particularly hard" as he discreetly sought assistance without public attention.
"Not many people know about this… I made the decision to go to rehab," Graham stated on his podcast, The Bye Round.
"When I said I was away on holiday, I was actually a week in a facility for mental health, which wasn't long enough."
Graham had an illustrious career, playing over 400 first-grade matches with St Helens, the Canterbury Bulldogs, and the St George Illawarra Dragons, before smoothly transitioning into media roles with Triple M and podcasting.
However, he revealed that he struggled to manage his work responsibilities alongside his personal well-being.
